ENB invites Nureyev's Romeo to Wednesday Party

English National Ballet's next Wednesday Watch Party instalments, following the online stream of Broken Wings, will be the online première of Rudolf Nureyev’s Romeo & Juliet on 6 May, followed by Azure Barton’s Fantastic Beings on 13 May.

The Wednesday evening (7PM) premieres on Facebook and YouTube showcase some of ENB’s most loved productions for free, with recordings made available for 48 hours.

Romeo & Juliet features Lead Principals Alina Cojocaru and Isaac Hernández as Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers in a production created in 1977 to celebrate the Queen’s Silver Jubilee,featuring Rudolf Nureyev’s choreography and Prokofiev’s score performed by English National Ballet Philharmonic, recorded at The Bristol Hippodrome in 2015.

Fantastic Beings was originally created for ENB’s She Said programme in 2016. With a cast of 20 dancers, this reworked version was recorded at Sadler’s Wells in 2018 when it was performed as part of the company’s Voices of America triple bill with a score by Mason Bates, Anthology of Fantastic Zoology.

Further Wednesday Watch Parties are planned, the programme for which will be announced at a later date.
