Manchester’s Library Theatre has confirmed the cast for its spring production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, directed by artistic director Chris Honer.

Eve Polycarpou, well known to Manchester audiences with appearances at the Royal Exchange in The Bacchae in 2010 and Palace of the End in 2009, takes the title role.

Her three children—Eilif, Kattrin and Swiss Cheese—will be played by Rob Compton, Amelia Donkor, seen in the Library’s site-specific production Manchester Lines in summer 2012, and Kenny Thompson.

Paul Barnhill, who appeared in the recent acclaimed production of Arabian Nights, plays the cook; Natalie Grady, who took the title role in The Daughter-in-Law this time last year, plays Yvette; and Johnson Willis is the Chaplain.

The cast is completed by Anthony Hunt, who appeared in the theatre’s last Brecht play, The Good Soul of Szechuan, in 2009; Susannah van den Berg; and Manchester Metropolitan University students Alex Bennett and Ben Boscovic. Greg Palmer, who was the musical director for The Good Soul of Szechuan, returns as composer.
