Lyndsey Turner in New Perspectives masterclass

Nottinghamshire touring company New Perspectives has signed up Lyndsey Turner, currently one of the most sought-after theatre directors, for a masterclass in November.

Fresh from directing Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet at the Barbican, Lyndsey Turner won a London Evening Standard award for best director for Lucy Kirkwood’s Chimerica at the Harold Pinter Theatre in 2013 and won a Laurence Olivier award for directing Laura Wade’s Posh in the West End in 2014. She is currently associate director at the National Theatre.

Her masterclass will offer directors and theatre-makers the chance to explore bringing text to life, draw out performances and negotiate new writing. It will be held at New Perspectives’ home at Basford, Nottingham on Saturday 28 November from 10AM until 5PM.

New Perspectives will also host a masterclass with playwright and spoken-word artist Inua Ella's who has developed a “unique writing style, influenced by everything from classic literature to hip-hop”. It will be staged on Saturday 17 October.

The company asks for a minimum donation of £20 towards the cost of each masterclass. Places can be booked at the New Perspectives web site or by ringing 0115 927 2334.
