Oldham Coliseum Theatre has announced the new programme of productions for their forthcoming season.

They’ll be a trip to the races with Amanda Whittington’s comedy Ladies’ Day directed by Gareth Tudor Price who worked on the Hull Truck’s original production and directed Kay Mellor in A Passionate Woman at the Coliseum in 2011. Then it’s time for a weekend in the country with Noël Coward’s Hay Fever.

These two Oldham Coliseum Productions will be joined by two touring productions. Rifco Arts plan to Break the Floorboards with their new dance drama, hot on the heels of their Britain’s Got Bhangra. The Original Theatre Company will be bringing an epic tale of love and war to the Coliseum with its touring production of Birdsong.

The season will also include Shake It Up!—young people will programme an entire week of productions which they’ll promote, sell and administer all themselves. This is the very first time in the Coliseum’s history that they have handed over the reins to participants.

May sees another first—First Break—a week-long festival of new writing and work by emerging companies from across the North West taking place at venues throughout Oldham as well at the Coliseum’s studio theatre.

There is also a bevy of one nights events including John Shuttleworth and productions from Oldham Theatre Workshop and Congress Players.
