A wide–ranging array of events is on offer this winter at London's Soho Theatre.

Artistic Director of Soho Theatre, Steve Marmion, said, "Behind the busy bar and queues for the hottest shows, Soho Theatre is a producer, nurturer and creator of an enormous amount of new theatre writing, comedy and cabaret.

"Whilst that’s one of the least visible aspects of our programme, it’s also the one that I’m most proud of so I’m particularly delighted that so much of our home-produced talent will be on show at Soho this Christmas”.

The team behind Edward Gant’s Amazing Feats of Loneliness and Realism reunite when Soho Theatre’s Artistic Director Steve Marmion directs a new musical version of The Night Before Christmas by Anthony Neilson with music by Tom Mills, promising an adult take on the family classic.

Also in the programme for the festive season is a Christmas cabaret show and New Year’s Eve party with Edinburgh Fringe Cabaret award-winning Lady Rizo and an anarchic alternative nativity with Sue Timms in Sue: The Second Coming.

Lovers of late nights can catch Late Night Gimp Fight, an alternative Christmas sketch show featuring One Direction tributes, cock genies and a huge jelly.

Before Christmas there are a number of return visits including Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Edinburgh hit Fleabag, which was developed as a work-in-progress at Soho Theatre, and Blink by Soho Six writer Phil Porter. Another Soho Six writer, Bryony Kimmings, is back with new show, Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model, and The Wrong Crowd, whose hit The Girl With the Iron Claws previously played Soho, is back with Hag.

A Bic for Her is on the comedy menu from Foster’s Comedy Award winning Bridget Christie who has played the venue many times. Other comedy comes from Tony Law in Nonsense Overdrive, Nish Kumar in Nish Kumar is a Comedian and Luisa Omielan in What Would Beyoncé Do?.

As well as three busy performance spaces, Soho is also home to The Verity Bargate Award, a biennial competition established in the memory of the venue's founding Artistic Director. This year's nominees are

  • Copperfield by Daniel Alicandro
  • The Vendor by Clara Brennan
  • 4m 12s by James Fritz
  • The One by Vicky Jones
  • No After No by Kicking K
  • Rollers by Iain Weatherby

Ever a supporter of new writing, the Soho Theatre's Soho Six programme continues, supporting six emerging writers on attachment to the theatre for six months; the next participants will be announced with the Verity Bargate Award winner.

A number of productions have BSL interpreted, captioned / live subtitled and audio described performances. For further information and booking visit sohotheatre.com.
