The twentieth anniversary revival of Yamina Reza’s Art, starring Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson and Stephen Tompkinson, comes to Newcastle Theatre Royal from Monday to Saturday.

On Friday and Saturday, Curious Monkey returns to Northern Stage (Stage 2) with Leaving, written by Paddy Campbell and directed by Amy Golding.

On Wednesday Alphabetti presents Alphabetti Jam, a free event in the bar, an opportunity for anyone to perform whatever they want—tell a joke, do a sketch, sing a song, read a poem, just jam along with the house band or just sit back and enjoy while drinking some pints and eating some cake.

At Dance City on Thursday, the Aakash Odedra Company presents a double bill: Echoes, a Kathak piece choreographed by Aditi Mangaldas, and I Imagine, a combination of Odedra’s choreography with spoken word by Sabrina Mahfouz.

On Tuesday at Gateshead’s Caedmon Hall, GIFT (Gateshead International Festival of Theatre) presents The Best of BE Festival, the touring showcase of Birmingham’s international festival of performing arts.

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical comes to Sunderland Empire from Tuesday to Saturday.

On Sunday at 12:00, the Cultural Spring presents Wee Red and Her Wolf, a badly behaved tale for brave souls aged seven and over, in Daltons Suite at the Customs House in South Shields.

Oh! Carol, the musical story of the song-writing partnership of Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield, comes to the Phoenix Theatre in Blythe on Saturday.

At the Queen’s Hall, Hexham, on Tuesday, Ragged Edge Productions presents The Chef Show. It’s a busy night in the local curry house. As father and son Abdul and Khalid struggle to deal with all of the customers ‘out front’ and the staff in the kitchen, they also have to decide on the future of the family business. Will Khalid carry on the family business, or is this the end? And amid it all, a chef from a local Indian restaurant prepares a meal on stage.

Workie Ticket Theatre presents Hear Her Roar, a night of new writing to celebrate International’s Women’s Day, at The Exchange, North Shields, on Saturday.

From Tuesday to Saturday Durham’s Gala Theatre presents Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads, with Ross Waiton in A Chip in the Sugar, Zoe Lambert in Bed Among the Lentils and Judi Earl in Soldiering On, a Gala production directed by Charlie Westenra.

Icarus Theatre Collective’s Macbeth comes to Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre on Friday at 1:00 and 7:30.

From Friday to Sunday (various times), David Walliams’s Awful Auntie is at Darlington Hippodrome.

On Friday and Saturday (various times) at The Hullabaloo in Darlington, Margarita Sidirokastriti & the egg presents One Item Only, in which we follow one boy’s journey across continents in search of refuge from his troubled homeland. For age 7+

At Harrogate Theatre this week, Manic Chords presents The Economy of Ecology, a story about human relationships, communications and our impact on the natural world, in The Studio on Tuesday, while on Wednesday in the Main Theatre, Gonzo Moose, in association with The Pound Arts Centre and Pegasus Theatre, presents The Thing That Came From Over There!, inspired by the horror movies of the 1950s. Then back in the Studio on Friday, it’s The Best of BE Festival.
