Steve Orme
Midlands Editor
Steve Orme was one of the first four contributors to the British Theatre Guide, posting his initial review in November 2002 – a touring production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest when it stopped off at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham. Steve had been a freelance journalist for a number of years, writing for radio and television as well as newspapers.
His life changed in 1988 when he met Sue. They were soon married and found they shared a passion for theatre.
Steve's research for a television documentary fuelled a fascination with the Bard. He scripted and produced The Shakespeare Enigma, about the Shakespeare authorship controversy, and also produced and directed a modern, condensed version of Macbeth which was taken up by an American educational distributor.
Steve now works part-time lecturing broadcast journalism students at Nottingham Trent University.
He has written two plays, What’s Your Poison? about the supposed serial killer Dr William Palmer, and a ghost story Skulduggery. Both are being considered for tours by a professional theatre company in Derbyshire.
Steve has also self-published his first novel Storm Deaths which combines his two other interests: crime writing and basketball.
