The Inheritance, Company and Come From Away lead the nominations lists with eight for The Inheritance and nine each for the two musicals, so purely on probability these shows should have walked away with the most awards, which they did.

Matthew Lopez’s The Inheritance took home Best New Play, with Best Actor going to Kyle Soller, Best Lighting Design to Jon Clark and the Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director to Stephen Daldry.

Come From Away won Best New Musical, Outstanding Achievement in Music, Best Theatre Choreographer for Kelly Devine and Best Sound Design for Gareth Owen.

Stephen Sondheim's Company received Best Musical Revival with Jonathan Bailey and Patti LuPone taking Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical and Best Set Design for Bunny Christie.

Best Actor in a Musical went to Kobna-Holdbrook Smith for Tina—The Tina Turner Musical.

Best Actress in a Musical was won by Sharon D Clarke for Caroline, Or Change, this and the big wins for Company and Come From Away leaving new British musical Six to go home empty handed in spite of being nominated in five categories.

Patsy Ferran won Best Actress for Summer And Smoke which also won Best Revival.

Choreographer and director Matthew Bourne received a Special Award for his contribution to dance.
