Access all ages at Lancaster's Dukes Theatre

David Upton

The Dukes in Lancaster is working with Age UK Lancashire to offer older people and their families increased access to the arts.

A dance performance—Agnes & Walter: A Little Love Story—on October 25 and a film screening of Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid on November 12 are the first in a series of events programmed to appeal to an older audience at the Lancaster theatre.

Agnes & Walter: A Little Love Story is inspired by The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and is set to a soundtrack of cinematic scores and popular songs. It received rave reviews at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, causing a buzz with its poignant and compelling storytelling.

Crossing boundaries of dance and theatre, Agnes & Walter combines dance, physical theatre, mime, clowning and music performed by a cast aged 28 to 80. It is recommended for anyone aged 8+.

There will be an informal post-show discussion about perceptions of getting older hosted by Roger Clough, an Emeritus Professor at Lancaster University, who has been leading a research project into the needs of older people in Lancashire, and Geraldine Moore, chief officer at Age UK Lancashire.
