Not for profit theatres are among the cultural organisations that can apply for funding from Arts Council England's Capital Investment Fund when the online portal opens on Tuesday.

The process is in two stages, firstly the organisation makes an Expressions of Interest (EOI) which is panel-assessed in respect of geographical location, the activity proposed, the organisation's diversity profile and risk in respect of the balance of projects. There are additional criteria for EOI in respect of building projects.

Selected organisations will then receive an invitation to submit a full application in the terms of their LOI which must be for grants between £100,000 and £750,000.

Applications can be for works, projects and equipment to help venues operate safely post-pandemic, improve access, reduce environmental impact or advance their technology.

The portal is open for EOIs from 5 to 26 October, and the application form will be available from 10 November to 13 December. Detailed guidelines are available online.
