Lucy Bailey, who directed the Agatha Christie production Witness for the Prosecution which is in its sixth year at London’s County Hall, will take the helm for a “bold and exciting reinvention of Christie’s greatest murder mystery” And Then There Were None.

The Fiery Angel, Northampton Royal and Derngate and ROYO production will open at Royal and Derngate before going on a UK and Ireland tour.

The cast comprises Bob Barrett as Doctor Armstrong, Joseph Beattie (Philip Lombard), Oliver Clayton (Anthony Marston), Jeffery Kissoon (General Mackenzie), Andrew Lancel (William Blore), Nicola May-Taylor (Jane Pinchbeck), Louise McNulty (understudy), Katy Stephens (Emily Brent), Lucy Tregear (Georgina Rogers), Sophie Walter (Vera Claythorne), Matt Weyland (Narracott / understudy) and David Yelland (Judge Wargrave).

And Then There Were None is not only Agatha Christie’s most read work but also the best-selling crime novel of all time. It has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide since its publication in 1939.

The plot features 10 strangers being lured to a mansion off the coast of Devon. When a terrible storm cuts them off from the mainland, and with their hosts mysteriously absent, the true reason for their presence on the island becomes horribly clear as secrets from their past come back to haunt all of them.

This new production which “has been reinvented for the 21st century” has set and costume design by Mike Britton. Lighting designer is Chris Davey and sound designer and composer is Elizabeth Purnell. Casting is by Ellie Collyer-Bristow CDG, the assistant director is Victoria Gartner, fight direction is by Renny Krupinski and movement direction by Ayse Tashkiran.

And Then There Were None will run at Royal and Derngate from Thursday 7 until Saturday 16 September. It then tours to Dublin, Glasgow, Cheltenham, Canterbury, Newcastle, Malvern, Richmond, Sheffield, Cambridge, York, Brighton, Guildford, Nottingham, Norwich, Milton Keynes, Bath, High Wycombe, Birmingham, Plymouth, Cardiff, Truro, Bromley and Southampton until 13 April 2024.
