Anniversary Platforms at National

National Theatre 50 Platforms

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the National Theatre has organised a special series of platform talks with leading artists and practitioners, National Histories.

Amongst the host of notable performers who will be sharing personal stories about the National Theatre are Nancy Carroll (The Magistrate, After the Dance), Imelda Staunton (Guys and Dolls, A Chorus of Disapproval), and Penelope Wilton (Betrayal, Man and Superman) and wife of the National Theatre’s first Director, Laurence Olivier, Joan Plowright who starred in Three Sisters and Saint Joan.

Amongst the writers are David Hare (Plenty, Pravda) and Alan Bennett (The Habit of Art, The History Boys) and amongst the directors are Trevor Nunn (Director of the National Theatre 1997-2003,The Merchant of Venice, Oklahoma!), Nicholas Hytner (Current Director of the National, Othello, Carousel) and Richard Eyre (Amy's View, Guys and Dolls).
