Financial help needed: Mansfield district council cultural services manager Andrew Tucker

Mansfield Palace Theatre has started an appeal to raise money to improve the lighting at the Nottinghamshire venue.

Pillars of Support is offering theatregoers the chance to have their names on a supporters’ wall in the foyer.

Mansfield district council cultural services manager Andrew Tucker said, “Mansfield Palace Theatre is one of the town’s oldest entertainment venues and we need help to preserve it for future generations to enjoy as much as we do. This scheme is priceless in terms of leaving a lasting legacy for others to enjoy the venue as either performers or attendees.”

The wall will be erected during the theatre’s summer maintenance period. Spaces on the wall cost £100 for ten years. Anyone who wants further information should ring Andrew Tucker on 01623 412950 or e-mail [email protected].

The Palace Theatre began life as the Palace Electric Theatre and opened in 1910. Mansfield District Council bought the theatre for £11,500 in 1953.
