The Arts Council’s Ambition for Excellence fund has awarded £719,322 to Extraordinary Bodies.

The company came about when Cirque Bijou and Diverse City worked together on the London 2012 Olympic sailing event opening ceremony.

The award will enable Extraordinary Bodies, which is the UK's only integrated professional circus company, to create large scale outdoor touring circus shows presented by disabled and non-disabled UK artists.

Additionally an international residency will consider co–production opportunities.

The Arts Council’s Ambition for Excellence awards supports work of increased ambition and the development of talent and leadership. Of its £35 million fund, a minimum of 80-90% is directed outside of London.
