Ayad Akhtar's whose play Disgraced has won the Pulitzer Prize For Drama

Disgraced has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama 2013.

Written by New York City–born, Milwaukee–raised Ayad Akhtar the play was originally produced in 2012 at the American Theater Company, Chicago, and then ran at the Lincoln Center, New York, winning the Jeff Equity Award for Best New Play.

Akhtar's other work includes the novel American Dervish, published in 25 languages worldwide, and the screenplay for The War Within, for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.

The timing couldn’t be better for London's Bush Theatre which is preparing for the UK première of Disgraced which will open next month as the first show in its new season.

Directed by Nadia Fall, the work looks at the price of ambition, culture and faith. The cast comprises Danny Ashok, Kirsty Bushell, Hari Dhillon, Sara Powell and Nigel Whitmey.
