Dark comedy Beached is The Marlowe's first in–house production, having been a receiving house until now.
The dark comedy will receive its British première at the venue in October prior to a three week run at London’s Soho Theatre.
Marlowe Theatre Director Mark Everett said, “up until now, we have primarily been a receiving house, with touring companies coming to us. This exciting move into producing is something we always said we would do and Beached is exactly the right vehicle.”
Written by Australian Melissa Bubnic, Beached tells the story of 18-year-old Arty—at 63 stone, he is morbidly obese and the world’s fattest teenager—and how his life changes when a reality TV crew moves in.
- The Marlowe Studio – 28 October to 1 November
- Soho Upstairs – 4 to 23 November
Beached is recommended for those aged 14 and over.
