An independent performing arts festival which celebrates the arts scene of Birmingham is to be held for the fifth year.

Dozens of artists and companies from all over the UK and sometimes further afield present a variety of shows at Birmingham Fest. The 2017 event will be staged just before the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with some companies using Birmingham as a warm-up.

Anyone from individuals to companies can apply for Birmingham Fest. Categories include theatre, dance, children’s theatre, workshops and seminars.

The festival will take place from 14 until 30 July at venues across the city. Further details are available at the Birmingham Fest web site.
