Artists and companies from across the UK and overseas will showcase their work in the fifth Birmingham Fest.

Over two and a half weeks, there will be a range of shows covering drama, new work and dance.

Festival organiser Darren Haywood said, “some favourites are back and there’s lots of new work too. Many are one-off performances, so don’t miss them.”

The festival will introduce companies and theatregoers to some of the city’s venues that they may not be familiar with.

Some artists and companies use the festival as a taster for Edinburgh. Others use it as a less expensive alternative, especially those in the southern half of the country.

Venues at the 2017 Birmingham Fest are the Blue Orange Theatre, the Crescent Theatre and @ A E Harris which is the home of theatre company Stan’s Cafe.

The festival runs from Friday 14 July until Sunday 30 July. The full programme is available at the Birmingham Fest web site.
