Aiming to end racist practices: Sian Booth

Sian Booth has taken over as cultural services manager of Mansfield Palace Theatre, joining from Doncaster's Cast Theatre where she was head of marketing and communications.

She has worked at a number of venues including Nottingham's Theatre Royal, Nottingham Playhouse, Buxton Opera House and Sheffield Theatres. She also worked for Opera North.

Booth intends to use her leadership to "celebrate the spirit of diversity and bring about long-lasting change to end racist practices where they exist within our structures, sector and communities".

She said, “Cast prides itself on having a gold standard in accessibility and for the past four years I’ve been asking customers what they need, listening and doing something about it. This is something I intend doing here in Mansfield."

In her work at Mansfield, she intends to prioritise young families and children under five.

Booth has replaced Andrew Tucker who retired after 26 years with Mansfield district council which runs the Palace Theatre.
