Free auditions: the Regional Young Actors Ensemble

Young people aged between 18 and 25 in the East and West Midlands are being invited to audition for the Regional Young Actors Ensemble, a project to support anyone interested in pursuing a professional career in the theatre.

Derby Theatre is one of the venues taking part in the scheme which aims to recruit about 30 young people facing difficulty in achieving their ambition. This might be because of financial, transport or geographical reasons.

Auditions are free and those who make it through to the ensemble will undertake a programme of master classes. Travel, accommodation and food will be provided at no cost.

The ensemble will perform a piece as part of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 celebrations which will be directed by Sarah Brigham, Derby Theatre’s artistic director and chief executive.

Auditions take place from 6 until 7PM at Birmingham Old Rep on Tuesday 4 April, the Old Library, Mansfield on Tuesday 18 April, New Vic, Newcastle-under-Lyme on Wednesday 19 April and Derby Theatre on Wednesday 3 May.

Anyone interested in auditioning should email Sarah-Louise Penney at Hull Truck Theatre, [email protected], for an application form.
