Nottingham Playhouse has appointed Caroline Shutter, a trustee since 2014 after several years as a member of its strategic board, as chair of its trust.

She is vice-chair of internationally recognised, experimental dance organisation Dance 4 and a director of Ticketing Network East Midlands.

She said, “it’s a tremendous honour to be appointed chair of Nottingham Playhouse, one of the most creative producing theatres in the UK. With my fellow trustees I want to ensure that the Playhouse continues to thrive and attract audiences to see world-class theatre in Nottingham.

“Nottingham Playhouse contributed to my decision to move to the city more than 15 years ago; as a leading regional producing theatre it continues to help promote the city of Nottingham and grow the local economy.”

Nottingham Playhouse chief executive Stephanie Sirr added, “these are very challenging times for charities and for the arts especially. Caroline Shutter gives us the perfect combination of passion for culture and strong PR and business networks. We're all really looking forward to working with her.”
