Casting for Tipping The Velvet in London and Edinburgh

Tipping the Velvet at Lyric Hammersmith and Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh

Full casting has been announced for Tipping The Velvet which opens at London's Lyric Hammersmith prior to a run at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh.

Recent RADA graduate Sally Messham is to play Nancy ‘Nan’ Astley in her first professional lead role, and Laura Rogers is to play male impersonator Kitty Butler in this 1887-set story of desire and self–discovery.

Rogers's credits include Pressure, An Ideal Husband, Blue Remembered Hills, Hay Fever, 55 Days and Macbeth. She also has a number of television credits.

Kirsty Besterman, David Cardy, Amanda Hadingue, Adelle Leonce and Andy Rush will play alongside Rogers and Messham and the cast is completed by a young ensemble.

Sarah Waters's book has been adapted for the stage by Laura Wade. Tipping The Velvet is a Lyric Hammersmith and Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh production, directed by Lyndsey Turner.

Tipping The Velvet runs at Lyric Hammersmith from 18 September to 24 October 2015 and at Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, from 28 October to 14 November 2015.
