Casting revealed for première of Nativity! The Musical

Daniel Boys, Sarah Earnshaw and Simon Lipkin have been cast in the world première of the Birmingham REP production of Debbie Isitt’s Nativity! The Musical which opens in October 2017.

Boys will play Paul Maddens. At the beginning of 2017, he was Donald in Mart Crowley’s The Boys in the Band at London’s Vaudeville Theatre.

Earnshaw plays Jennifer Lore. She was in the original cast of Wicked, playing the lead role of Glinda on many occasions. She also played the Ghost of Christmas Past in Leslie Bricusse’s Scrooge at the London Palladium in 2012.

Lipkin is Mr Poppy. He played Lonny in the original London cast of Rock of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2011 and was Barlow in Harry Hill’s musical I Can’t Sing at the London Palladium in 2014. He took the title role in David Greig’s adaptation of Dr Seuss's The Lorax at the Old Vic Theatre in 2015.

The cast also includes Andy Barke, Jamie Chapman, Jemma Churchill, Gary Davis and Katia Sartini.

Debbie Isitt, who directs, said, “I’m absolutely delighted to be working with this incredibly talented and hilariously funny musical theatre cast who are going to be brilliant. It truly will be an emotionally soaring, feelgood experience with beautiful singing and amazing choreography.”

Nativity! The Musical, which is based on the Christmas film franchise, runs at Birmingham REP from Friday 20 October until Sunday 12 November. It then tours to Southend Cliffs, Sheffield Lyceum, Manchester Palace Theatre, Plymouth Theatre Royal, London’s Apollo and Leeds Grand Opera until 6 January 2018.
