Three East Midlands theatres are looking for emerging companies who will be given mentoring and support over a 12-month period.

Derby Theatre, Create in Mansfield and Leicester’s Embrace Arts have been awarded £99,950 from Arts Council England to set up In Good Company, a professional development scheme for emerging East Midlands artists.

In Good Company will provide high-profile performance opportunities for artists at any stage of their career.

Recently appointed creative producer for the project, Natalie Ibu, said, “I’m thrilled to be throwing open the doors of Derby Theatre, Create in Mansfield and Embrace Arts in Leicester in our search for six associate companies who will make our venues their home for a year.

“We’re looking for companies that are bold, curious and ambitious; companies who—in developing their own practice and processes—will push forward our own.

“These companies will sit at the heart of In Good Company but we’re committed to the wider regional community of artists; I look forward to engaging exciting emerging artists in a dynamic programme of events and activities over the next year.”

Theatre companies in the East Midlands are invited to attend one of three workshops to learn more about the programme and how to apply.

The workshops will take place at Derby Theatre on Friday (20 June) from 2 until 9:30PM, Create in Mansfield on Sunday (22 June) from 11:30AM until 7PM and Embrace Arts in Leicester on Sunday 29 June from 11.30AM until 7PM.
