Casting for Michael Boyd’s production of The Cherry Orchard was announced as rehearsals began for the Bristol Old Vic and Royal Exchange Theatre co-production.
Rory Mullarkey’s brand-new translation will be directed by Boyd, former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Although he studied Russian and trained as a director in Moscow, he will be directing Chekhov—the literary love of his life—for the first time.
Kirsty Bushell and Jude Owusu lead the ensemble in this new production, which opens at Bristol Old Vic March 1 to April 7, before transferring to Manchester’s Royal Exchange from April 19 to May 19.
