The Chichester Festival Theatre redevelopment has won five regional RIBA architectural awards, including Building of the Year.
The RIBA South East Regional Awards were announced at a ceremony on Thursday 23 April.
Judges described the RENEW project designed by architects Haworth Tompkins, as a "true masterclass in how to restore and augment an existing iconic building".
The redevelopment received wins in the following categories:
- RIBA South East Award 2015
- RIBA South East Building of the Year 2015
- RIBA South East Project Architect of the Year, presented to Lucy Picardo of Haworth Tompkins
- RIBA South East Conservation Award 2015
- RIBA South East Sustainability Award 2015
The winning schemes will all now go on to be considered for the national RIBA Awards which will be announced on 18 June.
Chichester Festival Theatre reopened in July 2014 after a 21-month, £22 million redevelopment project of the Grade 2* listed building.
The redevelopment has received several other architectural accolades since reopening, including a 2015 Civic Trust Conservation Commendation, Refurbishment Architect of the Year Award, and Chichester City Council Heritage Award.
