Northampton Royal and Derngate artistic director James Dacre who will direct Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is looking for children from the local community to join its professional cast in its production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Director James Dacre is looking for girls and boys aged between 6 and 12 who must be under five feet tall to play a variety of parts in Tennessee Williams’s drama.

The youngsters, who will be cast in two teams and will rotate performances, need to be able to sing, act and have good movement skills. The ability to play an instrument would be useful.

Auditions will take place at the theatre on Monday 7 July between 4 and 9PM.

Parents must pre-register by Wednesday 2 July at 6PM. Registration forms can be downloaded at the Royal and Derngate web site or are available at the box office.

Further information is available from John Manning on 01604 655784 or at [email protected].

Rehearsals start on 11 August. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, a co-production with Northern Stage and Royal Exchange Theatre, will run on the Royal stage from 1 until 18 October.
