Christie thriller in Northampton before national tour

Rarely seen: Love From a Stranger

A “gripping” Agatha Christie thriller, Love From a Stranger, is the next offering in Royal and Derngate’s Made in Northampton season, playing in Northampton for three weeks before going on a nationwide tour.

This rarely-seen play by “the UK’s greatest crime writer” will be presented in a new production by Lucy Bailey who is currently directing Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution at the County Hall, London and also directed Patrick Hamilton’s Gaslight on the Northampton Royal stage in 2015.

The full cast has been revealed which includes Justin Avoth (Nigel Lawrence), Helen Bradbury (Cecily Harrington), Sam Frenchum (Bruce Lovell), Alice Haig (Mavis Wilson), Molly Logan (Ethel), Crispin Redman (Dr Gribble), Nicola Sanderson (Louise Garrard) and Gareth Williams (Hodgson).

Design is by Mike Britton whose credits in Northampton include Mike Poulton’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities in 2016.

Presented in association with Fiery Angel, Love From a Stranger by Agatha Christie and Frank Vosper takes to the Royal stage from Friday 23 February until Saturday 17 March.

It then tours to Oxford Playhouse, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford, Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, New Theatr Cardiff, Liverpool Playhouse, Richmond Theatre, Curve, Leicester, New Alexandra Theatre Birmingham, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Edinburgh King’s Theatre, Theatre Royal Newcastle, Everyman Theatre Cheltenham, Theatre Royal Glasgow, Milton Keynes Theatre, The Lowry Salford and Theatre Royal Norwich from 17 until 21 July.
