Young actors from Corby in Northamptonshire have been selected to take part in an international festival for young theatre makers, Contacting the World, in 2014.
Corby Young Actors is made up of actors, dancers, digital artists, musicians, poets and producers aged between 15 and 25 who are on The Core at Corby Cube’s advanced training programme.
Chris Sudworth, creative director at The Core at Corby Cube, commented, “This is an amazing opportunity for our young actors to take part in a really exciting international project.
“I’m sure that collaborating with young people from across the world will inspire some really eye-opening work and offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience for this wonderful group of Corby young people.
“We look forward to sharing our work here at The Core before we take it to the festival in Manchester next summer.”
Also taking part in the Contacting the World festival 2014 are Bread and Butter Entertainment from Mumbai in India; CYAC, based in Manchester; Firefly Arts—FRESH from Livingston, Scotland; Iranian youth group margintheater from Tehran; and Quilt Performing Arts Company from Kingston, Jamaica.
The groups will showcase their work in Manchester from 7 to 13 July 2014.
