Abigail's Party: produced in the round at Curve

Cary Crankson, Emily Head, Jackie Morrison, Patrick Moy and Natalie Thomas have been cast in Leicester Curve’s production of Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party, the first play to be produced in the round at the theatre.

Set in 1977, Abigail’s Party features a party being thrown by Beverly, a former beautician and devout Tom Jones fan, for her neighbours, newlyweds Tony and Angela and divorcee Sue. Down the road Sue’s teenage daughter Abigail is throwing a party of her own. But it’s the grown-ups’ night which spirals out of control.

With little help from long-suffering husband Laurence, Beverly desperately attempts to hold the evening together. But it descends into chaos with hilarious and tragic consequences.

Curve’s associate director Suba Das directs Abigail’s Party which runs from 17 October until 8 November. Press night is 21 October.
