Delivering “astonishing” artists to Curve: Kay Magson

Leicester’s Curve is to dedicate its new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita at Christmas 2023 to its late associate artist and casting director Kay Magson.

She died in September aged 61. Curve’s artistic director Nikolai Foster and chief executive Chris Stafford said, “Kay worked on the casting of most of our Made at Curve productions over the past decade, delivering astonishing artists to our stages and often helping young actors make their stage debuts.”

Curve has revealed the full company for Evita. Joining previously announced Martha Kirby as Eva Perón and Tyrone Huntley as Che will be Gary Milner as Perón, Chumisa Dornford-May as Mistress and Dan Partridge as Magaldi.

The company will be completed by Tia Antoine-Charles, Jacob Atkins, Tanisha-Mae Brown, Harrison Burley, Harry Chandler, Shona Eaton, Jacob Fisher, Olivia Foster Browne, Ashley Gilmour, Jack Harrison-Cooper, Jordan Isaac, Tamsin January, Fallon Mondlane, Samuel Routley, Toby Seddon, Darcey Simmons and Rebecca Wickes.

Foster will direct. Set design will be by Michael Taylor, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker and choreography by Adam Murray. The production team will also include costume designer Edd Lindley, lighting designer Joshie Hariette, sound designer Adam Fisher and wigs, hair and make-up designer Sam Cox. Casting is by Magson and Olivia Laydon. A nine-piece band will be led by musical director Ben van Tienen.

Evita will run from Monday 27 November until Saturday 13 January 2024.
