Kneehigh returns to HOME in Manchester with 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips between October 25 and 29.
Coming to Manchester on its national tour after a sell-out run at Kneehigh’s Asylum last summer in Cornwall, it tells the little-known story of the rehearsal of the D-Day landings when 946 were people killed during Operation Tiger at Slapton Sands in Devon in 1944.
With the kind of storytelling sorcery for which Kneehigh is famous, the show uses music, puppetry and their unique craziness to tell a tale of war, prejudice and love.
It’s a collaboration between Emma Rice, artistic director at Shakespeare’s Globe, and Michael Morpurgo, adapted by them both from Morpurgo’s book, and is the first time the War Horse author has co-adapted one of his own books for stage.
