Oldham Coliseum Theatre executive director David Martin is to leave the venue this summer to establish a freelance consultancy specialising in business planning and resilience and project management within the theatre industry.

David joined the Coliseum in 2009 from Community Arts North West, where he was general manager, and was previously head of production and premises at Contact, Manchester.

He has been part of the theatre’s executive team with Kevin Shaw, chief executive and artistic director, during a period of growth and change that has seen audiences and earned income grow, increasing revenue from philanthropy, and the realisation of a refurbishment of the Coliseum on its Fairbottom Street site in 2012 as part of the transition to a new purpose-built theatre due to open in 2020.
