Terry Deary, author of the Horrible Histories series, will be signing books at Derby Theatre when he is in the city for the world première preview performance of Horrible Christmas.

He will be signing books in the lower foyer at the theatre from 5:30 until 7PM and after the performance from 9:15PM on Friday 6 December.

Fans and audience members will be able to buy Horrible Histories books including Horrible Christmas.

Birmingham Stage Company is behind the new show, described as a “hideous and hysterical look back through history, Christmas-style”.

As children wait for Father Christmas and all the presents are beneath the tree, a fat old man slides down their chimney and nicks the lot. Can this be the real meaning of old Saint Nick?

Horrible Christmas runs until Saturday 11 January.
