Films, storytelling, dance and lectures are in store in Lancaster as part of The Dukes pioneering series of events for people with dementia.

A Life More Ordinary is now in its second year and aims to improve the lives of people with dementia.

Venues in Chorley, Liverpool, Birkenhead and Shropshire have been inspired to run similar events benefitting almost 2,000 people and another ten venues are due to join them this year.

The Dukes events begin on January 16 with a storytelling session from 2:30 to 4PM. No writing experience is necessary. Photographs are used to inspire the imagination and memories to bring characters and stories to life. Another session will be run on February 13.

From 2:30 to 4PM on January 30, there’s a chance to meet and dance together inspired by memories, social dances and favourite music at Let’s Dance.

A new lecture series on dementia begins at 7PM on February 2 with The Science Behind The Headlines by Dr Penny Foulds, Defying Dementia Campaign founder and Honorary Researcher at Lancaster University.

The popular A Life More Ordinary film screenings begin a new season on February 27 with High Society at 2PM starring Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong and with hit songs "True Love" and "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?".
