Derby Festé, which has established itself as one of the best street arts festivals in the UK, has confirmed it will again be held in 2014.

Since it started in 2007, Derby Festé has attracted high-quality acts from the UK and abroad to the city’s streets and the organisers have announced that several attractions have already signed up for this year.

Without Walls associate touring network, which played a huge role in producing Festé in 2013, will present Bad Taste Company’s Faust, an “outrageous” re-imagining of Goethe’s classic.

Stephen Munn, director of Derby arts venue Déda and artistic lead for Derby Festé, said, “Working in association with the country’s largest festival producer Without Walls enables us to bring a wide selection of the UK’s finest artists to the festival, and we’re sure there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.

“This year we welcome Derby Theatre on board as a full artistic partner which is another great example of the city’s cultural organisations working together to make Derby a fantastic place to live and work.”

Other attractions include: Les Enfants Terrible, presented by Imaginary Menagerie in an enormous, exotic caravan which will arrive in Derby complete with strange characters who will entertain, amuse and beguile; Motionhouse’s Captive, a “dazzling blend of dance and aerial work which is powerfully physical, emotionally charged and extraordinary”; Something to Hold, created by Pif Paf and Kevin Finnan, a “beautiful tale spun on a thrilling new aerial sculpture”; The Next Level by Prodigal, “breathtaking parkour played out on an urban playground”; and Candoco’s Two for C, choreographed by Javier de Frutos and inspired by Tennessee Williams’s Camino Real, which “explores a world in a which a couple is trapped in a long-standing relationship, characterised by struggle and power play”.

Derby Festé will take place on Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 September. A full line-up will be announced shortly.
