Doran goes into battle with Henry V at Stratford

The Royal Shakespeare Company is to perform Henry V in Stratford, its run coinciding with the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt.

RSC artistic director Gregory Doran will continue his exploration of Shakespeare’s history plays with Henry V which opens in Stratford before being broadcast to cinemas and transferring to London’s Barbican.

Alex Hassell, who was Prince Hal in parts one and two of the RSC productions of Henry IV and played Biff Loman in Doran’s production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, plays the title role of King Henry.

Design is by Stephen Brimson Lewis with lighting by Tim Mitchell. The music is composed by Paul Englishby with sound by Martin Slavin. Movement director is Mike Ashcroft and fight director is Terry King.

Henry V plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford from Saturday 12 September until Sunday 25 October. Press night will be Tuesday 22 September. It will be broadcast live to cinemas on 21 October and transfers to the Barbican from 7 November until 30 December.
