Conrad Lynch, a theatre professional with wide experience in both London and the regions, has been chosen to lead Theatre by the Lake, in Keswick, Cumbria.
His appointment as artistic director and chief executive will see the former freelance producer and arts consultant begin working part-time this spring and full-time from September. The post is a new one which includes aspects of the roles of present executive director Patric Gilchrist and artistic director Ian Forrest who both stand down later this year.
Theatre by the Lake currently stages almost 700 events a year and welcomes 130,000 ticket buyers.
Although Conrad Lynch will not direct, associates will stage the work in the theatre’s two spaces. He will also be responsible for the theatre’s programme of festivals and visiting work that includes drama, comedy, dance and music.
