Sunderland Empire’s group for performers with learning difficulties, Connect Theatre Company, officially launches as a theatre company this month and embarks on its first Wearside tour.
The relaxed drama group, run and hosted by Sunderland Empire’s creative Learning team, was launched by No Limits Theatre Company, and was taken over by the theatre in 2018 as a group for adults aged 18+ with additional needs.
The established theatre company includes 11 local members, ages ranging from 25 to 75, all who have a passion for theatre and who are regular attenders at Sunderland Empire’s performances.
The tour begins at Barbara Priestman Academy and will also visit Harry Watts Academy and Epinay School.
