Paul Nicholas, Wendi Peters, Sue Holderness and Jeff Rawle will appear in Ronald Harwood’s Quartet, the first production in Mark Goucher’s role as chief executive of the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

Quartet is the “charming” tale of a group of ageing opera singers living in a retirement home in Kent. When a new resident arrives, old rivalries resurface, secrets are revealed and chaos unfolds. Peter Rowe directs. Design is by Phil R Daniels and Charles Cusick Smith.

Oscar-winning writer Sir Ronald Harwood’s play The Dresser completed a West End run and tour at the beginning of 2017. Goucher said, “after The Dresser I wanted to tour another of Ronald Harwood’s plays and in my new role at Cheltenham, I felt that Quartet would be a perfect show for this theatre to produce and then tour.”

Quartet plays at the Everyman Theatre from 8 until 17 February 2018 and then tours to Sheffield Theatres, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich, Birmingham REP, Salisbury Playhouse, Theatre Royal Brighton, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Richmond Theatre and Bath Theatre Royal until 21 April.
