Public nominations opened this week for Index on Censorship's Freedom of Expression Awards.
In the arts category, nominees' work will challenge repression or injustice and celebrate artistic free expression. Any individual or collective is eligible for nomination from musicians to creative writers and visual artists.
Offered by non-profit campaigning organisation Index on Censorship, the Awards celebrate leaders of free expression across the globe and anyone is free to nominate an individual or organisation.
Other award categories are Campaigning, Digital Activism and Journalism.
Award winners become Awards Fellows and receive mentorship, networking and strategic support to increase the impact and sustainability of their work.
Nominees will be shortlisted and the winners selected by a panel of judges and announced in April next year.
2020 will be the 20th year of the Freedom of Expression Awards. Nominations are open until 31 July.
