Northern Stage’s Get Carter—Torben Betts’s dark and stylish adaptation of Mancunian best-selling author Ted Lewis’s novel—comes to The Lowry in Salford with Manchester-based actress Amy Cameron from April 19-23.

The iconic 1971 movie, starring Michael Caine, was credited as one of the genre-defining British gangster movies. The story was adapted from the Jack’s Return Home, penned by Lewis who was born in Manchester and wrote seven novels and several episodes of the television series Z Cars.

Northern Stage, one of the top producing theatres in the UK, brings the classic crime drama to the stage with a cast including Manchester Metropolitan University graduate Cameron in the role of Jack’s niece Doreen. Newcastle-born Kevin Wathen will play Jack Carter.
