Ben Hall plays Henry V at The Dukes this October

An actor with a theatrical pedigree appears in one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays at The Dukes in Lancaster.

Ben Hall plays the title role in Henry V which will be performed in The Round from October 16 to 20.

Hall, who appeared in the first two series of popular television drama The Durrells, is the grandson of the acclaimed theatre director the late Sir Peter Hall and veteran film star Leslie Caron.

His most recent theatre credits include the Royal Shakespeare Company’s productions of Coriolanus and Salome, though this is the first time he has joined Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, the Bristol-based touring ensemble.

The company has appeared several times at The Dukes, notably in 2015 when its production of Romeo and Juliet starred Paapa Essiedu who went on to become the first black actor to play Hamlet at the RSC.

Henry V is an examination of the nature of power, exploring the burden of leadership and the myth of heroism.

During its Dukes run, there will be an after-show talk-back following the first performance on October 16.
