Janie Dee will play the title role in Hello Dolly! at Leicester’s Curve this Christmas, replacing Caroline O’Connor who has withdrawn due to other commitments.

The production will reunite Janie Dee and Curve’s artistic director Paul Kerryson after their collaboration on The King and I in 2010.

Her extensive stage work includes All’s Well That Ends Well at Shakespeare’s Globe; Comic Potential at the Lyric Theatre and on Broadway for which she won Olivier, Critics’ Circle and Evening Standard awards for best actress; and Carousel at the National which earned her an Olivier for best supporting actress in a musical.

The cast of Hello Dolly! also includes Laura Pitt-Pulford (Irene Molloy), Jason Denton (Barnaby Tucker), Keisha Atwell (Ermengarde) and Simon Donovan (Ambrose Kemper).

The production opens on Wednesday, 5 December, with previews from 30 November, and runs until 12 January.
