Be Our Guest bursaries will offer £1,500 plus five days of rehearsal space at Hull Truck to three local artists or theatre companies to enable them to develop their work.

Bursaries will be offered to writers, directors, actors, movement directors, either as individuals or a collective, aged 18+ and living in or originally from Hull or the East Riding of Yorkshire. Pieces of work that have been fully staged before and adaptations or revivals will not be considered unless the approach to the story is new and innovative.

Recipients will spend a week in residence at the theatre, at the end of which they will present their work to a live audience in the Godber studio. Access to the theatre’s artistic, production, communications and technical departments and mentoring are available to them if required.

Luke Dankoff, Producer / Programmer at Hull Truck Theatre, said, “we understand the current challenges facing artists and believe that the Be Our Guest offer reflects our commitment to local artists, providing support through all stages of their careers.”

Anastasiia Manina, Be Our Guest bursary recipient 2023, said, “I am incredibly grateful to Hull Truck Theatre for their ongoing support of the project that was staged within the Grow Season 2023. I’ve found comprehensive support and much respect from Hull Truck Theatre all the way through implementation of the project."

Full details and instructions on how to apply are on the Hull Truck web site. The deadline for applications is Friday 15 March 2024.
