The cast of Impromptu Shakespeare

Winners of the best comedy event at the 2021 Buxton Fringe, Impromptu Shakespeare will return to the Derbyshire town to stage a “riotous new Shakespeare play every time”.

Each show will be inspired by suggestions from the audience and will be “packed with priceless wit, lyrical smarts, romance and a dash of double-crossing”.

Ailis Duff from Impromptu Shakespeare said, “each show is different but unmistakably Shakespearean, echoing his themes, characters and language. It's perfect for families with children aged ten and above, with its winning combination of accessible irreverence and striving to be as true as possible to Shakespeare.

“The cast are not only leading theatrical and comedic improvisers but have a broad array of education and experience in classical text: dissertations on Shakespeare’s works, classical acting training and a multitude of acclaimed Shakespeare credits.”

The cast comprises Ailis Duff, Daniel South, Octavia Gilmore, Jules Munns, Rebecca MacMillan, James Irving and Tom Wilkinson.

Impromptu Shakespeare will be at the Old Clubhouse, Buxton on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July at 4PM.
