Junction 8 Theatre's inaugural play is inspired by and will be performed on Chorley Market in Lancashire from October 11 to 21.

Junction 8 is a professional company founded by brother and sister Nick and Liz Stevenson.

They set it up to create theatre for their local community and have support from Arts Council England as well as The Dukes, Lancaster and the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Liz is the associate director at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, where her production of Handbagged is currently playing, and she will direct their Christmas show The Secret Garden later this year.

Under The Market Roof concerns Old Len who turned up on Chorley Market as a lad with nothing but a couple of suitcases of stock and he’s been there ever since. But Len hasn’t seemed himself lately.

The play by Becky Prestwich (Chip Shop Chips, Doctors, Holby City) is inspired by a series of interviews taken with those who work and shop on Chorley Market.
