The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Rome season in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford begins with Julius Caesar which will run in repertoire with Antony and Cleopatra.
Andrew Woodall will play Julius Caesar. Alex Waldmann returns to the RSC to play Brutus. He appeared with the company as Orlando in As You Like It in 2013 and took the lead in King John in 2012.
The rest of the cast of Julius Caesar includes Joseph Adelakun (cobbler), Ben Allen (Cinna the conspirator), Kristin Atherton (Calphurnia), David Burnett (Murullus), James Corrigan (Mark Antony), Paul Dodds (Metellus Cimber), Patrick Drury (Cinna the poet), Waleed Elgadi (soothsayer), Martin Hutson (Cassius), Tom Lorcan (Publius), Luke MacGregor (carpenter / Volumnius), Tom McCall (Casca), Hannah Morrish (Portia), Anthony Ofoegbu (Trebonius), Dharmesh Patel (Decius Brutus), Lucy Phelps (waiting woman), Jon Tarcy (Octavius) and Marcello Walton (Lepidus).
Angus Jackson directs. Design is by Robert Innes Hopkins, with James Turner as associate designer. Music is composed by Mira Calix, sound is designed by Carolyn Downing and lighting is by Tim Mitchell. Fights are by Terry King and movement is by Scott Ambler.
Julius Caesar runs from Friday 3 March until Saturday 9 September. Press night is Thursday 23 March.
