Puppet opera Skitterbang Island

The new season at Little Angel Theatre offers entertainment for both family and adult audiences.

Playing until 23 February, the over-3s can enjoy Sleeping Beauty In The Wood which features newly composed live music by Arran Glass. This production directed and designed by Joy Haynes with puppets by Jan Zalud uses projections and automata.

A Polka Theatre co-production sees puppet opera Skitterbang Island play the diminutive Islington venue from end April before moving to Wimbledon for two months. Suitable for young children and families Skitterbang Island tells the story of a brave little girl who meets a strange and curious creature, the Skitterbang.

Visiting shows for little ones include Nobody Rides The Unicorn, Red Riding Hood, Arthur’s Dream Boat and Tomten amongst others.

For older audiences, visitors include Macbeth: The One Half World, Boris And Sergei’s Perilous Escapade and Alice, plus five productions lined up for the Firsts Festival in March.

This festival, which helps emerging companies stage professional performances, is in its second year and will feature Buttons by Sort of Theatre, Cat In A Cupboard by Tiny Light, Faust (redacted) by Darren East/Touched Theatre, London Under by Lama Creative and Cell by Little Cauliflower/Red Threaders/Smoking Apples.
