Little Women in the West End - For One Night Only On the day it was announced that the Broadway musical version of Little Women, starring Tony award-winner Sutton Foster, is to close, it was also announced that Little Women - The Musical, a glittering star-studded gala concert version of a major new British musical, will take place at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on Sunday 2nd October. With music & lyrics by Lionel Segal and book by Peter Layton and Lionel Segal, the show stars Dave Willetts and Dillie Keane, and is narrated by Sandi Toksvig. Lionel Segal (Composer) won a nationwide song-writing contest at the age of 17 that led to a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music. He composed Britain's first musical for the world of advertising, for Dupont, staged at the London Hippodrome. Signed to MGM for two years on Ken Tynan's recommendation, he later switched to the record business, establishing two independent record labels - Strike (with RCA) and GO (with Columbia). Among his many stage musicals are music and lyrics for World in My Pocket (commissioned by Ray Cooney) at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford; and The Pied Piper and Alice in Wonderland for Laurier Lister. Peter Layton (Book) is Executive Director of Drama Studio London. Tickets are £15.00 - £30.00; Box office: 020 7494 5095; for group tickets and early booker offer see the website. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
